League Updates
Oh, what a night!
June 23, 2009
July 1 is the start of a new fiscal year for us and we’re celebrating! We’re celebrating not only the accomplishments of last year, but also the possibilities the upcoming year will bring. This year, I wasn’t the only newbie – we added five new positions and/or employees! We merged with the EAR Foundation, focused efforts on fundraising, resurrected a special event, and contemplated a move. Whew!
While “change” seemed to be the theme of the last 12 months, “reinvention” will be the theme for the next 12. Given the new convention center, a move is still very likely. And, we’re working to better integrate the former EAR Foundation’s hard of hearing programs into our education and awareness department. We’re making it a priority to examine all our programs to be certain what we do on a daily basis is still relevant to and needed in the Deaf and hard of hearing communities in Middle Tennessee.
As always, we need and want to hear from you. Please stop by the League any time and give us your input. We always welcome folks who want to celebrate with us!

P.S. Please check out some Club information on the News page!

The annual collaborative event between the League, ABLE Youth, Progress, Inc., and Technology Access Center was a fantastic success! Preliminary figures show the 5k race, walk, and roll raised over $25,000 to be split between the four organizations!

Baby Signs Workshops
Why wait to communicate? Babies have a lot to say, even before they can actually speak. With the Baby Signs® Program, infants and toddlers can use simple signs to let you know what they see, what they need, and even how they feel. Research has shown that using the Baby Signs® program decreases frustration and helps babies learn to talk sooner.
There are two exciting ways to get started:
Baby Signs® Sign, Say & Play™ Classes – six week course
You and your baby will enjoy 6 weeks of fun-filled play classes with lots of singing, signing, and dancing activities that highlight important developmental skills.
Baby Signs® Parent Workshops
You’ll learn everything you need to know to start using the Baby Signs® Program at this fun and informative workshop.
